Nicola Mac Donald joined the Burt MacDonald Quartet
in 1998 as a singer, songwriter and melodica player. She has recorded
extensively and toured internationally with the band performing as far
a field as Texas. As part of the BmacD5 she has collaborated with Lol
Coxhill, Keith Tippett, Harry Beckett, and Bill Wells. Nicola launched
her own independent record label, ‘Tuesday Records’ back
in 2001, her own band Dr Honda released a series of vinyl singles which
found international acclaim. Since 2001 Nicola has been busy with a
series of projects working in association with Future Pilot AKA, visual
artist Martin Boyce ‘This place is dreaming’, Glasgow Improvisation
Orchestra with Maggie Nicols, Barry Guy ‘Witch Gong Game 11/10’,
producer for Dundee Based ‘Root Chord’ and more recently
has become project Co-ordinator for the music project ‘Polyphony’
based in Gartnavel Royal Hospital.
